I'm not sure if the New York Knicks have all the pieces in place right now, but by adding Carmelo Anthony they are certainly one big step closer to being a NBA championship contender. Although considering the mismanagement over the last 10 years it's heard to believe they won't mess this up too.

Watch for the Knicks to make some strong stragetic moves during this off season to sure things up and make them a true Eastern conference powerhouse.

Two cities that produce NBA Eastern Conference contenders also have the two teams that are favored to win the Super Bowl as the NFL playoffs are set to begin this weekend.

NBA spread betting experts might recognize that Atlanta and Boston produce two East contenders and with the Falcons and Patriots, both cities have the Super Bowl XLV juggernauts as well.

Just as in the NBA’s East, Atlanta’s team is viewed with an eye of pessimism. The Falcons had a great regular season but don’t have a ton of playoff experience. They’re a young squad that is gaining it on the fly.

Meanwhile, Boston’s team - just like in the NBA – is experienced, savvy and has done it before. The Patriots are the odds-on favorites to do it all and considering they’ve won it three times this decade, why bet against them?

I really like the direction this team is going but I'm not so sure they can really be a contender in the East this year.  The East has gotten a lot stronger over the last few years and while I think they can make the playoffs I don't really see any chance that they can really beat The Magic, the Heat, the Celtics, of the Bulls.  And I'm skeptical they can even beat teams like the 76ers or the Hawks.

     What is taking Dumars so long to move Rip Hamilton.  Al Jefferson was out there from the Timberwolves.  David Lee is about to get traded for two reserves on the same level as Maxiell and Wilcox.  I'm starting to wonder why Joe D is moving so slow, with a team that barely has trade value as it is.  Dumars You need to wake up and smell the free agency...if we end up spending our MLE on somebody like Sheldon Williams, Dumars will officially be on the Hot Seat in my book.

There has been speculation that Doc Rivers has his eye on our very own, Richard Hamilton if Ray Allen will not return to Boston. Let's get real here, as much as we love Rip, he's getting old and can't play like he used to. A trade with Boston wouldn't hurt Detroit in any way; it could only help. Joe D should probably call up Boston and have a chat. After all, Doc Rivers likes experienced (old) players.

I've got to say, watching the NBA playoffs this year hasn't been too exciting. All teams are at 3-0 at this point, except for the Cavs and Celtics series, but I could care less because I don't care for either team. Since the Pistons are nowhere near the NBA playoffs these days, Orlando has become my playoff team. It is easy to see which team is stronger and has more potential. A concern for the Magic is that they haven't been playing any notable teams. We'll see how they do next round when they have real competition! Unlike Orlando, Cleveland and Boston are ridiculously inconsistent. I'm wondering if it's the lack of skills or lack of effort as the series ties 2-2.

P.S. Rondo's behind the back was ridiculous. Hear the crowd chanting "MVP!"

How many years have we seen the Lions fall to the second or third worst team in the leauge in the last 20 years? 20 years that's how many but what if that changed this year. It will the Lions are making moves that the Lions never make like drafting a good quarterback! No not the Lions they don't know how to draft. They did last year and hiring a coach for defense wow impressive they haven't stoped anyone since 1945. While I am still holding my breath they are getting better personal wise and I hear people talking about them actually winning a few games this coming up season so who knows!

Can the Detroit Pistons ever get back to the way they use to be? My anserw is yes! How can they do that, it starts with the guards. With the championship team the Pistons had three guards that could defend and shoot. Now they have five gaurds and only two of which can defend and one that is getting old (Hamilton). They have to draft a young point guard that is a true point guard and work on Stuckey at the two spot. Or even make a trade for rookie sensation Collison who is going to want a starting job and won't find one in New Orleans. We have some guys down low that can last for a run to the playoffs next year but with Ben Gordon taking crazy shots and no point guard they don't have a chance next season. you trade Ben Gordon to the Hornets for Collison and they have a point

Here we are at the second week of the NFL playoffs again, which brings up the same question every year.  Is it better for teams that have clinched first-round byes and playoff seeds to rest their players at the end of the regular season, or play them to keep on a roll going into the playoffs?  Lets look at both sides of the issue.

The reason why most NFL teams decide to rest their players is simple; players cannot get hurt when they are on the sidelines.  They worry that their "star" players might get twisted knees, turf toes, concussions, or any of the myriad of unfortunately common NFL injuries.  Its the same reason most teams do not play those same players during most of the pre-season.  Seems like a simple enough approach, but lost in that explanation is the other primary benefit of resting your starters.  Their backups get real-time game experience.  Any player has the same chance of getting hurt during the playoffs as he does during any other game of the season.  If your top quarterback goes down early in game one of the playoffs, the more reps his backup has not just in practice but against live opponents the better off your team will be.  The only time to give those second-string quarterbacks, third-string running backs, fifth receivers, etc that experience without jeopardizing your playoff position is to play them while resting your starters at the end of the regular season.  Your team will be better prepared if the unthinkable happens during the most crucial game of the year.
